We’re excited to welcome you to Anchorage for the Improving Lives Conference! Here are some helpful tips for you as you plan your trip.

How can I get there?

The Improving Lives Conference will take place at the Dena’ina Center, located in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Several airlines provide domestic flight service to Alaska, including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, and United. Direct international flights are available on Condor and Icelandair.

Where can I park?

The Dena’ina Center is located at 600 W 7th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 in the heart of downtown Anchorage with walkable paid parking available within a two-block radius.

Popular parking locations include:

  • JCPenny Parking Garage: 414 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501
  • 6th & H Street Parking Garage: 700 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501
  • 7th & G Street Parking Garage: 650 G St, Anchorage, AK 99501
  • Linny Pacillo Parking Garage: 517 W 7th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501

There is also limited meter street parking on streets surrounding the Dena’ina Center.

Can I attend the conference if I did not register?

All conference attendees must pre-register or register on site upon arrival.

Will food be provided at the event?

Yes! Breakfast and lunch will be served each day, and all food will include a vegan and gluten free option.

Is continuing education credit available?

Yes! The Improving Lives Conference is proud to partner with the Alaska Training Cooperative, UAA Center for Human Development to offer continuing education credits for select presentations at this year’s event. This program (Improving Lives Conference) has been approved for 12.25 total General Contact hours by NASW-Alaska Chapter, and may be used to meet continuing education requirements for Social Work Licensure/Certification renewal. Due to concurrent CEU sessions happening at the same time during the two day conference, a total of 7.25 General Contact hours (CEUs) can be earned. Eligible presentations will be noted on the schedule of events, conference program and conference app. CEU oversight will be provided by the Alaska Training Cooperative, UAA Center for Human Development.

What is there to do in Anchorage outside of the conference?

Anchorage is full of fun and exciting activities! Downtown has several local artistry galleries, coffee shops, dining options and more. Additionally, you can take in breathtaking views while walking along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.

Will the conference be virtually live-streamed or recorded?

Unfortunately, this year’s inaugural conference will not be virtually live-streamed or recorded. We hope you can join us in person and look forward to seeing you at the Dena’ina Center!
